Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, citation, or case number entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and returns its results. We do not retain or log the search terms entered through those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, our servers may receive routine technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show aggregate use patterns, such as heavily visited pages and points where visitors leave. Analytics providers help us review that traffic. Browser settings can block cookies, although some site features may work differently as a result.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving the site
- Sending a search request to the selected partner service
- Understanding aggregate use and page performance
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may be relevant to a visitor
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Washington County court dockets or personal case-record information. It publishes general routing information for Washington County Court Administration and Minnesota District Court, plus Minnesota Court Records Online. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party files.
Access to judicial records is governed by the Rules of Public Access to Records of the Minnesota Judicial Branch, effective August 26, 2025, and not by this policy. Minnesota Statutes section 13.90 places judicial-data access under Supreme Court rules rather than ordinary Chapter 13 requests. Rules 4, 8, and 11 address public access, remote access, and restricted identifiers.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes on this site. Information submitted there is governed by the partner's privacy policy, not this policy. Those companies set their own retention and sharing practices, which we do not control. Review a partner's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
The site links to Washington County Court Administration, Minnesota court resources, statewide search systems, legal-aid organizations, and third-party search tools. A link takes you to a separate service governed by its own privacy policy. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to provide targeted advertising. That tracking occurs through their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has provided information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Your rights can vary by applicable law. A request for a Washington County judicial record is different from a request about visitor data held by this private site: under Minnesota Statutes section 13.90, judicial-record access is controlled by the Minnesota Judicial Branch rules. Rule 4 sets the public-access baseline, Rule 8 governs remote and courthouse access, and Rule 11 covers restricted identifiers. For personal data held by this site, you may:
- Request a copy of information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask for deletion of your information
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. The revised version will appear on this page with an updated effective date.
Effective date: August 27, 2026
